Overture Promotions Celebrates Seven Years of Empowering Survivors with A Safe Place

We’ve got some heartwarming news to share! This year marks the seventh anniversary of our partnership with A Safe Place, a domestic violence and human trafficking shelter serving the Lake County, Illinois area. Our journey together has been nothing short of inspiring, and we’re excited to reflect on the impact we’ve made and the road ahead.

A Partnership Rooted in Empowerment

Since 2018, we’ve been rolling up our sleeves alongside A Safe Place, contributing through volunteer efforts, event participation, on-site drives, and fundraising scholarships. Our goal? To support and uplift survivors as they embark on new beginnings. As our Sr. Marketing Operations Manager, Victoria Robertson, puts it, “What’s great about the partnership with A Safe Place is that it’s not about perpetuating victimhood, but rather, empowering survivors to begin anew.”

Celebrating Recognition: Community Ambassador Award

Our collaborative efforts were honored at the Unmask the Violence Gala in 2023, where we received the Community Ambassador Award. Pat Davenport, CEO of A Safe Place, shared, “This award honors a special community partner whose ongoing support and true spirit of volunteerism advances the mission of A Safe Place, and whose dedication advances the rights of victims of domestic violence and human trafficking.” We’re humbled by this recognition and see it as a testament to the power of community and shared purpose.

Highlights from Our Journey Together

Over the years, our team has been involved in various initiatives to support A Safe Place:

  • EmpoweRun 5K: We designed and donated T-shirts for participants, adding a touch of Overture spirit to the event.
  • Wine, Women & Shoes Event: Our team attended and contributed swag bags, enhancing the experience for attendees.
  • Thanksgiving Drives: Each year, our staff comes together to donate turkey dinners, providing meals for upwards of 50 families in A Safe Place housing.
  • Home Care Kits: We’ve assembled and donated essential supplies to survivors, aiding them as they establish new beginnings.

These activities have not only supported survivors, but have also enriched our team, fostering a culture of empathy and community engagement.

Looking Ahead: Continuing Our Commitment

As we celebrate this milestone, we’re reminded that our work is far from over. The journey to end domestic violence and human trafficking requires ongoing effort, awareness, and support. We’re committed to deepening our partnership with A Safe Place, exploring new ways to empower survivors, and advocating for change within our community.
